Renovation Considerations

If you are planning a renovation, it is understandable if you feel a little overwhelmed. Fortunately, the Matrix Bathroom team has extensive renovation experience of over 40 years, and we have compiled some handy hints to help your renovation go smoothly. These tips are based on projects we have worked on across Melbourne from the southern eastern suburbs such as Brighton, Albert Park, and Armadale through to the western suburbs of Moonee Ponds, Yarraville and Essendon, so you will have the knowledge and confidence to make the right renovation decisions for your home.

Choose the Right Supplier:

When it comes to renovations, there are lots of suppliers to choose from, so you need to be sure that you have found the right supplier for your project. You need to consider the pros and cons of choosing a renovations company or simply booking a tradesman. While an end to end renovation company may cost a little more, it removes the stress of managing the project yourself and can provide you with expert advice and guidance throughout the renovation.

You should also bear in mind that many tradesmen are not registered builders, so while they may do a great job, there is no obligation to provide a warranty. Registered builders are obliged by Victorian State law to provide you with a ten year waterproofing warranty and seven year workmanship warranty, making sure you are covered.

Consider the Timing:

How long your renovation takes will depend on the extent and size of the project. Generally, a bathroom renovation will need three to four weeks for completion. This is because the waterproofing will need sufficient time to dry and guarantee protection against water leaks. Here at Matrix Bathrooms, we appreciate that bathroom renovations place constraints on the whole family, so we aim to make this process as convenient and easy as possible by organising alternative solutions for you and your family.

Determine if You Should You Combine Renovations:

If you are planning a renovation, it is worth assessing whether it is worth combining other renovations into the project. Renovating key areas such as bathrooms, kitchens and laundry rooms can instantly improve the value of your property. However, it may be worthwhile to consider combining the renovations. The Matrix Bathrooms team would be happy to quote for an entire project, even if you want the work staggered. This is likely to offer savings since there will be cost efficiencies across the project.

Consider Your Renovation Designs:

Many consider design to be the fun part of a renovation. A good design can make a difference to any size of room, so it requires some consideration. The Matrix Bathrooms team is happy to go through the different aspects of design to ensure that your new room offers the best style and functionality for you.

Our team can assist you with all aspects of the design, e.g. with lighting options if your room is lacking natural light, how to maximise space and the best suited materials & finishes to create your ideal design.
